Substance of Faith

As I was trying to focus on Jesus in the midst of intense symptoms of illness, I asked Him to show me something that would help people who are going through similar suffering. I had a picture come to mind that I felt was symbolic of how He is working behind the scenes in people’s lives even when they cannot see or feel Him at work in any way.

I saw Jesus standing with a big pot and He was stirring a substance inside. I saw flames of fire heating up the pot from underneath which I felt was symbolic of the Holy Spirit (He came like tongues of fire on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2:3).

I felt that Jesus said with a smile, “This is My faith recipe! The finest faith you can find! I am stirring faith!”

I remembered that faith is the “substance of things hoped for” and sensed that in with faith He had mixed hope and patience. I saw Him take some sort of salt pot and He sprinkled the contents of peace into the substance too.

Then He poured fresh oil and fresh wine into the mixture. He held the wineskin up to show me that it was a new wineskin, as if He was saying, “Look, a fresh wineskin for fresh wine!

He tasted a sip of the mixture and such a big smile spread across His face. Then He began to rejoice! He was loving the recipe and thoroughly enjoying preparing it!

The mixture looked and tasted like sparkling, clear, golden honey. Then He sprinkled some rose petals in to it which symbolised love and gentleness. They dissolved in the mixture and a beautiful aroma spread out of the mixture around the room.

The scripture also came to mind that “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God” and I sensed that this substance of faith would be consumed through feasting on the word of God.

I also had a picture of Jesus rolling up sickness like a rug from the toes up and removing it. I felt that this is an example of what can happen through reading God’s word. The more we consume His word, which is like sweet honey, it becomes health and medicine to all our flesh (Proverbs 4:22).

Jesus is the Living Word! His words are Spirit and life but also when we enjoy intimacy with Him it is as though He feeds us the sweet, medicinal honey and we become strong and alive in Him.

Further to this I saw Him setting fire to spoonfuls of honey He was feeding people who were too weak or sick to feed themselves. So that as they consumed the ignited honey, His Holy, cleansing, purifying fire burned through them; it burnt up all the dross inside them. Some scriptures came to mind, of Him being the one who baptises with the Holy Spirit and with fire (Matthew 3:11),

And Jeremiah 23:29 which says, “Is not My word like fire?” declares the LORD, “and like a hammer which shatters a rock?”

Also Jeremiah 20:9, “But if I say, “I will not mention his word or speak anymore in his name,” his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.”

Romans 8:11 says, “And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.”

Ephesians 5:18 “…ever be filled and stimulated with the [Holy] Spirit.” AMP

His word is cleansing, holy, powerful, healing, sweet, life-giving. I feel He is calling people to spend more time devouring His words of life and more time in His presence, enjoying sweet intimacy and fellowship with Him.
